Punjabi Sahit & Kala Manch (Regd.) Talwara organised a special program for Punjab Radio London’s Kaali Raat Surakh Savera on 18 Jan 2012 at talwara.com’s office in Talwara (Hsp) . Ten poets / poetess recited their poetry live over the phone from Talwara to London. Among the poets were Prof. BS Balli, Dr. Amarjit Anees, Samarjeet Singh Shammi, Principal Navtej Singh Garhdiwala, Gurbachan Singh Ladpuri, Harbans Heon, Ram Saran Joshila, Anuradha Sharma, Dhian Singh Chandan.

Hidamba Devi Temple

Hidamba Devi Temple: According to an anecdote from the Mahabharta, when the Pandava Brothters had been living and roaming in the nearby Shiwalik forests, the mighty Bhim Sen had a furious fight with Hidamba Devi. Later on, he married her.

Here we got a chance to have some pictures of the beautiful place.

ਮਹਾਨ ਸ਼ਖਸ਼ੀਅਤ ਸਨ ਪੰਡਤ ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰੀ ਲਾਲ – ਇਕ ਜੀਵਨ ਝਾਤ


ਪੰ. ਕਿਸ਼ੋਰੀ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ ਦਾ ਜਨਮ ਦਸੰਬਰ 1912 ਵਿਚ ਬਲਾਕ ਤਲਵਾੜਾ ਜਿਲ੍ਹਾ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰ ਦੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਧਰਮਪੁਰ ਦੇਵੀ ਵਿਖੇ ਹੋਇਆ। ਪੰਡਤ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਢਲੀ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕਰਨ ਉਪਰੰਤ ਅਗਲੇਰੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਜੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਕੋਇਟਾ (ਹੁਣ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ) ਵਿਖੇ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਸਨ, ਕੋਲ ਗਏ। ਉਥੋਂ ਦਸਵੀਂ ਪਾਸ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਹ 1927 ਵਿਚ ਡੀ. ਏ. ਵੀ. ਕਾਲਜ ਲਾਹੌਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਏ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਲਾਕਾਤ ਸ. ਭਗਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਈ। Continue reading →

MS Randhawa : Beyond the Ordinary

Mohinder Singh Randhawa (known as M. S. Randhawa) (February 2, 1909-March 3, 1988) was a Punjabi civil servant. He played major roles in the Green Revolution in India, resettling Punjabis uprooted by Partition, establishing the city of Chandigarh and documenting the arts of Punjab.
